Okay, folks, let’s talk about that ground beef Philly cheesesteak I whipped up the other day.
I started by grabbing about a pound of ground beef from the fridge. I figured, why not use ground beef instead of slicing up steak? Way easier and probably cheaper, too. I threw that beef into a hot pan with a little bit of oil and started browning it up.
While the beef was doing its thing, I chopped up an onion and a green bell pepper. Once the beef was mostly browned, I tossed those veggies in there with the meat. I sprinkled a bit of salt and pepper in, just enough to get things tasting good. I let that all cook together until the onions started to get soft and see-through.

Getting Saucy
Next up, the sauce. Now, I didn’t have any of that fancy cheese sauce, so I just used what I had on hand. I mixed a little beef broth with some Worcestershire sauce – don’t ask me to spell that, haha – and poured that over the beef and veggies. I stirred it all up and let it simmer for a bit, just to let those flavors get to know each other.
The Cheese Factor
- I grabbed a few slices of provolone cheese.
- I laid them right on top of that beef mixture in the pan.
- I put a lid on it and let that cheese melt all gooey and delicious.
While the cheese was melting, I toasted up some hoagie rolls. Once those were ready, I scooped that cheesy beef mixture right onto the rolls. Man, it smelled amazing!
And that’s it! My easy-peasy, ground beef Philly cheesesteak. Was it the most authentic thing ever? Probably not. Was it super tasty and satisfying? You bet your boots it was. Give it a try sometime. It’s a great weeknight meal. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
