Okay, folks, let’s talk about my little kitchen adventure today – air frying swordfish. I’ve always been a bit intimidated by cooking fish, especially something as fancy-sounding as swordfish. But I’ve been trying to eat healthier, and I’ve heard amazing things about using an air fryer, so I decided to give it a shot.
Getting Started
First things first, I went to the store and picked up a nice-looking swordfish steak. It wasn’t cheap, but hey, treat yourself, right? I also grabbed some lemons, olive oil, and my favorite spices – garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a little bit of salt and pepper.
Prepping the Swordfish
Back home, I rinsed the swordfish steak under cold water and patted it dry with paper towels. Super important to get it dry, otherwise, it won’t crisp up nicely in the air fryer. Then, I drizzled both sides with a bit of olive oil. Just enough to coat it, you know? Next, I sprinkled my spice mix all over, making sure to get both sides evenly covered. Don’t be shy with the spices! Finally, I squeezed some fresh lemon juice over the top. That citrusy kick is key.

Time to Air Fry!
I preheated my air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Some people say you don’t need to preheat, but I always do. While it was heating up, I placed the seasoned swordfish steak in the air fryer basket. I made sure not to overcrowd it – just one steak at a time for even cooking.
- Set the timer for about 8-10 minutes.
The cooking time really depends on the thickness of your steak. Mine was about an inch thick, so I started with 8 minutes and then checked it. Swordfish can get dry if you overcook it, so keep a close eye on it.
The Big Reveal (and Taste Test)
After 8 minutes, I peeked inside. It looked golden brown and delicious! I carefully took the steak out and let it rest for a couple of minutes before cutting into it. And oh my goodness, it was amazing! Flaky, moist, and full of flavor. The air fryer really did its magic – the outside was perfectly crispy, and the inside was tender and juicy.
Honestly, I was pretty impressed with myself. This air-fried swordfish was way better than any fish I’ve ever baked in the oven. It was so easy and quick, too! I’m definitely adding this to my regular dinner rotation. If you’re looking for a healthy and delicious way to cook swordfish, I highly recommend giving the air fryer a try. You won’t be disappointed!
