Okay, here’s my experience making thick pork chops in the air fryer:
So, I was looking for something easy to cook the other day, and I remembered I had some thick pork chops in the fridge. I usually just throw them in the oven, but I’ve been wanting to use my air fryer more. I figured, why not try air frying them? I mean, it’s supposed to make things crispy, right?
Getting Started
First, I took the pork chops out of the fridge and let them sit on the counter for about 20 minutes. I heard that helps them cook more evenly. Then I grabbed some basic spices from my cupboard – you know, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and some paprika for a little color and smoky flavor.

I mixed all the spices together in a small bowl. After that, I patted the pork chops dry with paper towels. This is key, they say, to get a good sear. Then, I rubbed the spice mix all over the pork chops, making sure to get every nook and cranny.
Air Frying Time
I preheated my air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. While that was heating up, I brushed a little bit of olive oil onto both sides of the pork chops. Once the air fryer was ready, I placed the pork chops in the basket, making sure they weren’t overlapping.
I cooked them for about 8 minutes on one side, then flipped them over and cooked for another 6-8 minutes. The time really depends on how thick your chops are. Mine were about an inch thick, I guess. To be sure, I used a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. You want it to be 145 degrees Fahrenheit for safe eating.
The Result
When they were done, I took them out of the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes. This helps the juices redistribute, so you get a more tender chop. And let me tell you, they looked amazing! Golden brown and crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside.
- They were so much better than when I bake them in the oven.
- Super easy cleanup too, which is always a plus.
- Seriously, if you have an air fryer and some pork chops, you gotta try this!
They turned out way better than I expected. The air fryer really does make a difference! I served them with some roasted veggies, and it was a perfect meal. Honestly, I’ll probably never bake pork chops again!
