Okay, so I wanted to make some sugar-free peanut butter the other day. I mean, the regular stuff you get at the store is okay, but it often has all that added sugar, and I’m trying to cut back on that. Plus, I kinda like knowing exactly what’s going into my food, you know?
First, I grabbed a big bag of raw peanuts. You can use roasted ones, but I figured starting from scratch would be more fun. Then, I spread them out on a baking sheet and popped them in the oven. I think I roasted them at, like, 350 degrees for about 15 minutes? Just until they were all toasty and smelled amazing.
- Get raw peanuts
- Roast them in the oven
- Let them cool down
After they cooled down a bit, I dumped them into my food processor. This thing is a lifesaver, seriously. I pulsed it a few times to break up the peanuts, and then I just let it run. It took a while, maybe 10 minutes or so, but eventually, the peanuts started to release their oils, and the whole thing turned into this creamy, dreamy butter.
At first, it looked a little dry, but I just kept the food processor going, and it got smoother and smoother. I did stop it a couple of times to scrape down the sides, just to make sure everything was getting mixed in evenly.
The cool thing is, you can totally customize it. I didn’t add anything to mine this time, just pure peanut goodness. But if you wanted, you could throw in a pinch of salt, or maybe some cinnamon, or even a little bit of cocoa powder for a chocolatey twist. It’s up to you!
I have to admit, the taste of homemade peanut butter is way better than regular peanut butter. It is also totally sugar-free. I slathered it on some whole-wheat toast, and it was the perfect breakfast. And knowing I made it myself, with just one ingredient? That’s a pretty good feeling.
Homemade is the best
So yeah, making sugar-free peanut butter is surprisingly easy. It just takes a little time and patience. But the result? Totally worth it. I’m definitely going to be making this again. Next time, I might experiment with some different flavors. Maybe a honey-roasted version? The possibilities are endless!
