Okay, here’s my experience making London broil in my Instant Pot.
So, I’ve been seeing a lot of folks talking about making London broil in the Instant Pot, and I gotta say, I was a bit skeptical at first. I mean, London broil is usually something you grill or broil, right? But I’m always up for trying new things in the kitchen, especially if it means less work for me. So I decided to give it a shot.
First off, I went to the grocery store and grabbed a nice piece of London broil. It was about 2 pounds, which is perfect for my family. Then, I gathered all the other stuff I needed: beef broth, some seasonings, and my trusty Instant Pot.

When I got home, I started by seasoning the meat. I just used some simple stuff I had in my pantry – salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. I rubbed that all over the meat, making sure to get it into every nook and cranny. I wanted to make sure this thing was flavorful!
Searing Time
Next, I turned on the sauté function on my Instant Pot and added a little bit of oil to the pot. Once it was hot, I placed the seasoned London broil in there to sear it. I seared each side for about 3-4 minutes, just to get a nice brown crust on it. This step is optional, but I think it adds a lot of flavor and helps to seal in the juices.
After searing, I removed the meat from the pot and poured in about a cup of beef broth. I used a wooden spoon to scrape up any brown bits from the bottom of the pot. Those bits are flavor gold, people!
Pressure Cooking
Then, I put the London broil back into the pot, locked the lid, and set the valve to the sealing position. I cooked it on high pressure for about 20 minutes. Now, cooking time can vary depending on the size of your meat and how well-done you like it. I like mine medium-rare, so 20 minutes was perfect for me.
- After the pressure cooking time was up, I let the pressure release naturally for about 10 minutes. Then, I did a quick release to get rid of any remaining pressure.
Finally, the moment of truth! I opened the lid, and oh boy, the smell was amazing! The London broil was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. I took it out of the pot and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it up. I also took the opportunity to thicken the broth that was left in the pot using a little cornstarch to make a delicious gravy to go with it.
And let me tell you, this Instant Pot London broil was a hit with my family! Even my picky eaters loved it. It was so easy to make, and the results were incredible. I’ll definitely be making this again. If you haven’t tried making London broil in your Instant Pot yet, you’re missing out! Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
