I saw this snack idea the other day and thought, “Gotta try that!” So today, I did. Potato chip wrapped pretzels. Sounds simple, right? Well, it kinda was, and kinda wasn’t.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed a bag of my favorite wavy potato chips and a bag of pretzel sticks. I figured the wavy kind would be easier to work with. I also got a small bowl of water ready, which I thought might help things stick together. Turns out, I didn’t need it as much as I thought.
The Wrapping Process
I started by taking a single pretzel stick and trying to wrap a chip around it. This was the tricky part. The chips kept breaking! I tried a few different ways, gently bending the chip, using the water to soften them a little, even trying to hold the chip in place while it dried a bit. Finally, I found that if I selected a chip that was already a bit curved, it was much easier to wrap it without it snapping.

- Take one pretzel stick.
- Find a curvy potato chip.
- Carefully wrap the chip around the pretzel.
It took some patience, but I slowly started getting the hang of it. I made about a dozen of these before I got tired of it. They weren’t perfect, some were messier than others, but they looked pretty good overall! A few chips were completely shattered in the process, so I just ate those. No waste here!
The Result
After I finished wrapping, I laid them out on a plate. They looked interesting, that’s for sure. Kind of like little chip-pretzel cigars. Now for the taste test. I took a bite, and they were actually pretty good! The salty crunch of the chip with the classic pretzel flavor was a nice combination. Were they worth the effort? I don’t know if I’d do it for a big party, maybe it is a fun thing to do if you are bored or you just want to create some new food for yourself.
Overall, it was a fun little experiment. I wouldn’t say it’s the best snack ever, but it’s definitely something different. Maybe next time I’ll try different chip flavors, or even dipping them in chocolate! Who knows? The possibilities are endless when you’re just messing around in the kitchen.
