I really got into making cocktails at home recently, and I’ve been messing around with all sorts of ingredients. Today, I wanted to try something with creme de cacao, that chocolatey liqueur that sounds super fancy. I’ve seen it in a bunch of recipes online, so I figured it was time to give it a shot.
Getting Started
First, I had to actually get my hands on some creme de cacao. I hit up my local liquor store, and found a bottle. It smelled pretty good, like a chocolate candy. I also grabbed some brandy because I saw a recipe for something called a “Brandy Alexander” that looked interesting.
Mixing Things Up
Once I got home, I started with the Brandy Alexander. This one seemed pretty straightforward. I followed this recipe that I found, with brandy, the creme de cacao, and some cream. I put all that stuff in a shaker with some ice, and gave it a good shake. Then I poured it into one of those martini glasses, to make it feel extra fancy.
Experimenting Further
- First Try – Brandy Alexander: Okay, so the Brandy Alexander was a hit. It was creamy, chocolatey, and the brandy gave it a nice kick. It actually tasted kind of like a boozy chocolate milkshake. I definitely see why this one is a classic.
- More Cocktails: I also started to explore more Crme de Cacao drinks online. I found another 15 more recipes that used Crme de Cacao.
- Experimenting: I started playing around with those recipes, and even made up a few of my own. I tried it with vodka, rum, and even some whiskey.
- Conclusion: By the end of the night, I’d made a bunch of different chocolate cocktails. Some were better than others, but it was really fun experimenting.
This whole creme de cacao thing is pretty fun. It’s a cool ingredient to play with, and it can make some really tasty drinks. I’m definitely going to keep experimenting with it and see what other kinds of cocktails I can come up with. Maybe I’ll even come up with my own signature drink!
