Okay, so, I tried to make Italian sausage in the oven the other day. It turned out pretty good!
First, I preheated the oven. I saw online that 400 degrees Fahrenheit is a good temperature, so I set it to that. While the oven was warming up, I got a baking sheet and lined it with some parchment paper. I guess you can use foil too, but I had parchment paper on hand.
Next, I took the Italian sausages out of their package and placed them on the baking sheet. I made sure they weren’t touching each other, so they would cook evenly. I don’t know, I’m not a chef, I just assumed that’s how it’s done. And it worked!

- Preheat oven to 400F (or 200C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (or foil).
- Place sausages on the sheet, make sure they don’t touch each other.
I popped the baking sheet into the oven and set a timer. Some websites said 20-25 minutes, others said longer. I went with 20 minutes to start, just to be safe.
Check and keep going
After 20 minutes, I took a peek. They looked like they were getting there, but I wanted to make sure they were cooked all the way through. So I used a meat thermometer (because I have one and why not) to check the internal temperature. I was aiming for 160 degrees Fahrenheit, which is what you want for pork.
They weren’t quite there yet, so I put them back in for another 5 minutes. After that, I checked again, and they were perfect! Golden brown and cooked all the way through. They actually looked quite pretty.
I took them out of the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before cutting into them. And let me tell you, they were juicy and delicious! I served them up with some peppers and onions I sauteed in a pan while the sausages were resting, and it was a great meal.
So that’s my story about cooking Italian sausages in the oven. It was easier than I thought it would be, and they turned out great. Give it a try!
