Okay, so I’ve been craving some good, crispy cha gio lately. You know, the Vietnamese fried spring rolls? But I didn’t want to go through the hassle of making them from scratch. So, I thought, “Why not try the frozen kind?” Thus began my quest for “frozen cha gio near me.”
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up my usual grocery store apps. I checked a few of the big names, you know. Nothing. Seriously, not a single bag of frozen cha gio to be found. I was starting to get a little hangry, not gonna lie.
Then, I remembered there’s this awesome Asian supermarket a bit further out. It’s a bit of a drive, but they usually have everything. So I fired up their website. I typed in “cha gio” in the search bar, fingers crossed.

And…BAM! There they were. Several brands, different sizes, even vegetarian options! I was so stoked. I added a couple of bags of the pork and shrimp ones to my cart – gotta have the classic, right?
The Drive and the Discovery
- I hopped in the car.
- About 20 minutes later, get there.
I walked in, and the smell of deliciousness just hit me. I headed straight for the frozen food section, my eyes scanning for those familiar packages.
I grab the bag of frozen ones I wanted.
Cooking time
I decided to test different cooking method, and air fryer is perfect for it.
I preheated my air fryer, tossed in a few rolls, and in about 10 minutes, they were golden brown and perfectly crispy. Served them up with some nuoc cham dipping sauce I whipped up. Seriously, it was almost as good as getting them fresh at a restaurant, and way easier! So, mission accomplished: I found some great frozen cha gio, and my craving is officially satisfied.
