Okay, so I’ve always been a huge fan of biscuits. They’re just so simple and comforting, right? But sometimes, a plain biscuit just doesn’t cut it. I wanted to find some awesome pairings, so I started experimenting in my kitchen.
My Biscuit Experiment Begins!
First, I baked a batch of my go-to buttermilk biscuits. Gotta have a good base, you know?
Then, I raided my fridge and pantry. I grabbed everything that seemed like it might work. I’m talking sweet, savory, the whole shebang.

The Taste-Testing Lineup
- Butter and Honey: Classic, right? I melted some butter, drizzled on the honey, and took a bite. Yep, still amazing.
- Jam (Strawberry and Blackberry): I’m a big jam person. Spread some of each on separate biscuits. Both were delicious, but the strawberry was my favorite with the slightly tangy biscuit.
- Sausage Gravy: Okay, this is where things got serious. I whipped up a quick sausage gravy – you know, the kind with lots of black pepper. Poured that over a split biscuit…oh man, pure comfort food heaven.
- Fried Chicken: Because why not? I happened to have some leftover fried chicken (score!). I slipped a piece between a biscuit. It was like a mini chicken sandwich, and it was good.
- Pimento Cheese: I spread a generous amount of pimento cheese into a biscuit. The taste result is great. I like it.
- Fresh Fruit (Sliced Strawberries): For something a bit lighter, I layered some sliced strawberries on a biscuit. Really refreshing!
The Verdict
Honestly, everything was pretty good! It just depends on what you’re in the mood for. The sausage gravy was probably the most filling and satisfying, while the jam and fruit were lighter and sweeter options. And that fried chicken biscuit? I’ll definitely be making that again.
My next plan? I’m thinking of trying some different types of cheese, maybe some sharp cheddar or even a little brie. The possibilities are endless, really!
