Okay, so the other day I was having this super annoying problem in Dwarf Fortress. My stockpiles were getting clogged up with rotten food and it was driving me nuts. Seriously, who wants a fortress full of stinky, useless meals?
I did some digging and found out about this cool tool called DFHack. It’s like a magic wand for Dwarf Fortress, letting you tweak all sorts of things. And, as luck would have it, it has a command specifically for getting rid of rotten food! It’s called “delete rotten food”.
How I Used It
First things first, I had to make sure I had DFHack installed. If you don’t have it, you gotta grab it. It usually comes bundled with some of the starter packs, like the Lazy Newb Pack, you can check the wiki.
Once I had DFHack up and running, I opened up the game and loaded my save.
Next, I opened the DFHack console. Usually, you do this by hitting the ` key (it’s the one with the tilde ~ on it, usually next to the number 1).
Then, I typed in this command:
delete rotten food
I pressed Enter and… poof! All the rotten food was gone. Just like that. No more mess, no more annoying miasma, just clean stockpiles.

Little Tips I Learned
- I found out that this command gets rid of all rotten food. So, if for some weird reason you wanted to keep some rotten stuff, you might want to be careful. But honestly, who wants rotten food?
