Okay, so today I tried making that San Giorgio Baked Ziti. I’ve seen it around, and it looked pretty good, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
Getting Started
First, I had to get all the ingredients together. Nothing too crazy, mostly stuff I already had:
- Ziti pasta, obviously.
- Some ground beef.
- An onion and some garlic.
- A big can of crushed tomatoes.
- Tomato paste.
- Ricotta cheese.
- Mozzarella cheese .
- Parmesan cheese.
- A few spices like oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
Cooking it up
I started by browning the ground beef in a big pan. I, Chopped up the onion and garlic and threw those in too, until they got all soft and fragrant.

Then, I poured in the crushed tomatoes and the tomato paste. Added the spices – a pinch of this, a dash of that. I Let it simmer for a bit, just so the flavors could all mix together.
While that was happening, I cooked the ziti pasta. Make it “al dente”, which is just a fancy way of saying “not too mushy”.
Putting it all together
I mixed the cooked pasta with the meat sauce. Then, I greased up a baking dish.
I spread a layer of the pasta mixture on the bottom, then dolloped some ricotta cheese on top. I Sprinkled some mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over that. I made Repeat layers the process until all the stuff is used up.
Finally, I topped it all off with a generous layer of mozzarella and Parmesan. Makes it look extra cheesy and delicious, you know?
Baking Time
I popped the dish into the oven preheated to 375 degrees. It needs to be baked for about 20-25 minutes, until it’s all bubbly and the cheese is melted and golden brown.
The Result: It turned out pretty good! It’s a simple, hearty dish. The family loved it, which is always a win. Nothing fancy, but definitely a solid, comforting meal. I’d make it again for sure!
