Okay, so the other day, I was starving and had those Tyson dinosaur nuggets in the freezer. I’m usually a microwave or oven kinda guy, but I’d heard whispers about how amazing they are in the air fryer. I figured, why not? Let’s give this a shot.
First, I pulled those dino-shaped nuggets out of the freezer. They were rock solid, as expected. I didn’t bother with thawing them because, honestly, who has time for that? The air fryer is supposed to be magic, right?
The Experiment Begins
I preheated my air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Some folks online say you don’t need to preheat, but I like to play it safe. I think it makes things crispier.
While it was heating up, I lined the basket with a piece of parchment paper. I’m not sure if this is totally necessary, but it makes cleanup a breeze. I hate scrubbing stuck-on food.
- Grab the dino nuggets.
- Air Fryer to 400.
- Parchment paper for easier clean up.
Once the air fryer was ready, I dumped a bunch of the frozen nuggets into the basket. I made sure not to overcrowd it too much. Air needs to circulate to get that crispy goodness. I probably did about half the bag.
I set the timer for 8 minutes. That seemed to be the sweet spot from what I read online. But I know every air fryer is a little different, so I kept a close eye on them.
The Results?
After about 4 minutes, I gave the basket a good shake to make sure the nuggets were cooking evenly. They were already starting to look golden brown and delicious.
When the timer buzzed, I pulled out the basket. Holy moly, these things were PERFECT! They were super crispy on the outside and still juicy on the inside. Way better than the microwave, and probably even better than the oven!
I let them cool for a minute or two (because I’m impatient and always burn my mouth), and then devoured them. Seriously, these were the best frozen nuggets I’ve ever had. The air fryer is a game-changer!
