Okay, so I was really craving an oatmeal cookie the other day, but I’m also trying to be a bit more mindful of what I’m eating. So, I thought, “I gotta figure out how many calories are in one of these things!”
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up my go-to browser. I simply typed in “oatmeal cookie calories” and hit enter.
The search results popped up, and wow, there was a lot of info! Different brands, different recipes, different sizes… it was a bit overwhelming. I saw some general numbers, like, some websites said around 200-300 calories per cookie, but that seemed like a pretty big range.
I decided I needed to be more specific. I remembered I had a box of store-bought oatmeal cookies in the pantry. So, I went and grabbed the box.
Checking the Nutrition Label
I flipped the box over and scanned for the nutrition facts label. There it was! It listed all the usual stuff – calories, fat, sugar, etc. I found the serving size, which was “1 cookie,” and right next to it, the calorie count. It said 240 calories per cookie.

So there you have it! At least for that particular brand of oatmeal cookie, it was 240 calories. I realized that it will be different numbers depending on the recipe or if it’s homemade, but the box had the answer this time.
It was a good reminder to actually check those labels. You never really know until you look! Now I can enjoy my cookie, knowing exactly what I’m getting into, calorie-wise.
