Hey guys, it’s your boy back at it again! Today, I decided to make something sweet and simple. I’ve been seeing this “dump cake” thing all over the internet, and I figured, why not give it a shot? I went with a yellow cake and cherry pie filling combo. Sounded good in theory, let’s see how it went down in the kitchen.

First, I grabbed a box of yellow cake mix from the pantry. I also picked up a couple of cans of cherry pie filling from the store earlier. Dumped one can of the cherry filling into a baking dish, just spread it all across the bottom. Honestly, it already looked kinda good, all that red gooey goodness.

Mixing and Baking

Next, I sprinkled the dry cake mix right on top of the cherry filling. No mixing, no bowls, just dumped it straight from the box. Seemed weird, but hey, that’s the whole “dump cake” concept, right? Then, I sliced up some butter – about a stick and a half – and placed the slices all over the cake mix. Figured that would help it all bake up nice and golden.

  • Preheated the oven to 350 degrees – standard stuff.
  • Popped the dish in and waited. The recipe I saw online said about 45 minutes, but I think I ended up baking it a bit longer, maybe closer to an hour. Just wanted to make sure it was cooked through and bubbly.

When it was done, the top was all crusty and golden brown. The cherry filling was bubbling up around the edges. Pulled it out of the oven and let it cool for a bit, though it was hard to resist digging in right away. The smell was seriously amazing, like a warm cherry pie with a buttery crust.

The Taste Test

Finally, scooped out a big serving and added a dollop of whipped cream on top. Took that first bite, and man, it was good. Like, really good. The cake part was soft and buttery, and the cherry filling was sweet and tart. It all just worked together perfectly. And it was so easy! Seriously, if you’re looking for a quick and tasty dessert, this is it. I might try it with different fruit fillings next time, maybe peach or apple. The possibilities are endless, folks!

So that’s my dump cake adventure. Turned out way better than I expected, to be honest. Definitely adding this one to my go-to dessert list. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
