Alright, so I’ve been seeing a bunch of folks online mixing tahini with guacamole and I thought, “What the heck, let’s give this a shot.” I’m a big fan of both, so why not, right?
I started by grabbing a couple of ripe avocados. You know, the ones that are just a bit soft when you give them a gentle squeeze. I sliced them in half, took out the pit, and scooped the good stuff into a bowl. Then, I grabbed a fork and mashed the avocados up. I like mine a little chunky, but you can mash it smooth if that’s your thing.
Next, I diced up some tomatoes – just the fleshy part, no seeds – and a bit of onion. You don’t need a ton, just enough to add some texture and flavor. I tossed those into the bowl with the mashed avocado.

Now for the star of the show: the tahini. I added a couple of spoonfuls of tahini to the mix. Honestly, I eyeballed it. I like my tahini, so I went a little heavy. If you’re not sure, you can start with a smaller amount and add more later.
Then came the fun part – mixing everything together! I stirred it all up until the tahini was evenly distributed and the guacamole had a nice, creamy consistency. Oh, and I also squeezed in some lemon juice, added a pinch of salt, and a dash of cumin ’cause why not? Those always make guacamole taste better, in my opinion.
I gave it a taste and, you know what? It wasn’t bad! The tahini added a nutty, savory flavor that actually complemented the avocado really well. It was definitely different from my usual guacamole, but in a good way. It’s more… filling? Is that the right word?
I decided to let it sit in the fridge for an hour or so. Just to let all the flavors get to know each other. You don’t have to, but I think it helps.

The Experiment
- Gather your ingredients: ripe avocados, tomatoes, onion, tahini, lemon, salt, cumin.
- Mash the avocados in a bowl.
- Dice the tomatoes and onion and add them to the bowl.
- Add tahini to the mixture.
- Squeeze in lemon juice, add salt and cumin to taste.
- Mix everything together until well combined.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour (optional).
So, would I make tahini guacamole again? Yeah, I think I would. It’s a nice change of pace and a good way to use up leftover tahini. I served it with some tortilla chips, and it was a hit. You could also use it as a dip for veggies or spread it on a sandwich. It’s pretty versatile. Go ahead and try it, I mixed a little at a time until it becomes smooth and the color lightens. Don’t worry about how it looks, it tastes good!
