Okay, so I’ve been cooking a lot lately, and one thing I’ve really been into is mac n cheese. But I’m like, what do I even eat with this stuff? It’s so good on its own, but sometimes you just need something else on the plate, you know?

So I started experimenting. First, I made some green beans. I love green beans.

  • I grabbed a bunch of fresh green beans, and then snapped off the ends.
  • Then I chopped some garlic. I love that smell.
  • I heated up some olive oil in a pan and tossed in the garlic, then added the green beans. I cooked them until they were all bright green and a little tender-crisp.

It was pretty good! The green beans were nice and garlicky, and they added a good crunch to the meal. A good start, but I felt like it needed something more.

Then, I remembered reading something about barbecue. I decided to try pulled pork. Because why not?

  • I already had some leftover pulled pork, so I just reheated it in a pan with some barbecue sauce.
  • I served it next to my mac n cheese.

Oh man, that was a winner. The smoky, tangy flavor of the pulled pork was a perfect match for the creamy, cheesy mac n cheese. It was like a party in my mouth. Definitely a good one.

I found a recipe from Gordon Ramsay, so I decided to give it a shot. Here’s what I did:

  • I boiled some macaroni.
  • While that was going, I made a sauce with butter, flour, milk, and some spices like mustard powder and cayenne pepper.
  • Then I mixed in a ton of cheese—like, a lot of cheese. Cheddar, Lancashire, and Cheshire.
  • I combined the macaroni and the cheese sauce, and sprinkled some breadcrumbs and thyme on top.
  • I baked it in the oven until it was all bubbly and golden brown.

This whole thing took me around 45 minutes. It was a bit more work than my usual mac n cheese, but it was worth it. It was super rich and cheesy, and the breadcrumbs added a nice texture. The recipe suggested to serve it as a main dish, so this time I skipped the sides.

I’m still on the hunt for the perfect mac n cheese pairings. I’m thinking maybe some grilled chicken next time, or maybe even some kind of salad. I don’t know, we’ll see!

Anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to in the kitchen. It’s been fun, and I’ve definitely eaten a lot of mac n cheese. No regrets.
