Okay, so the other day I was craving something savory and easy to make. I had some leftover Red Lobster Biscuit Mix from a previous seafood feast, and I remembered seeing this recipe for sausage balls floating around. Figured, why not combine the two? Here’s how it went down:
Getting Started
First, I grabbed a pound of regular breakfast sausage. You know, the kind in the tube? Nothing fancy. I also found that box of Red Lobster Biscuit Mix hiding in the pantry. And, of course, you need some cheese. I used sharp cheddar because that’s what I had, but any kind would probably work.
Mixing It All Up
I dumped the sausage into a big bowl. Then, I added about a cup and a half of the biscuit mix. Don’t worry about being too exact, it’s pretty forgiving. I also shredded about two cups of cheddar cheese and threw that in too.
Now comes the fun part – getting your hands dirty! I just dove in and started mixing everything together. It’s kinda like making meatloaf, you just want to make sure it’s all evenly combined. No dry spots of biscuit mix allowed!
Baking Time
Once everything was mixed, I preheated my oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While that was heating up, I started rolling the mixture into little balls. I aimed for about an inch in diameter, but again, no need to be perfect. I put these lovely balls on to a baking sheet.
The Finished Product
I baked them for about 20-25 minutes. You want them to be golden brown and cooked all the way through. You know you’re done when use a toothpick test it, it should come out clean, and they smelled amazing!
I let them cool for a few minutes before devouring them. Honestly, these things were SO good. The biscuit mix gave them a nice, slightly cheesy flavor, and the sausage was perfectly seasoned. They were a total hit!
