Alright, guys, so today I tried my hand at making a peach cobbler, but not just any peach cobbler—a super easy one using cake mix. Let me tell you, it turned out pretty darn good!
First off, I preheated my oven to 350°F (that’s about 175°C for my friends across the pond). While that was warming up, I grabbed a big bowl. I dumped a can of peaches into it, juice and all. This is where the magic starts, folks. You gotta have that juicy goodness!
Now, my peaches were looking a bit too juicy, almost soupy. I learned a trick from somewhere: I sprinkled in a tablespoon of cornstarch. It’s supposed to thicken things up while it bakes, and let me tell you, it worked like a charm. If your peaches are kinda dry or not ripe enough, maybe skip this part, I guess.

Then, I took a box of yellow cake mix—any brand works, I just grabbed what I had in the pantry—and poured it over the peaches. I didn’t mix it, just let it sit on top like a golden blanket. After that, I melted a stick of butter. I drizzled that melted butter all over the cake mix, making sure to cover as much as I could. I love butter, I used a lot.
- Dump in a can of peaches with juice
- Add a tablespoon of cornstarch (if needed)
- Pour cake mix over peaches
- Drizzle melted butter on top
I popped the whole thing into the oven. And I waited about 45 to 50 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when the top is golden brown and the edges are all bubbly. Oh, and the smell? Heavenly. My kitchen smelled like a bakery, seriously.
Once it was done, I let it cool for a bit—but not too long, because who can resist warm peach cobbler? I scooped out a big portion, added a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top, and boom—dessert heaven.
Some final thoughts
This peach cobbler with cake mix is a lifesaver when you want something sweet but don’t have the time or energy for a complicated recipe. It’s so easy. If your oven runs hot, maybe watch it closely or adjust the time a bit. Same goes if your oven is a bit cooler—you might need to bake it a little longer. But that’s it! Try it, and let me know what you think!
Stay tuned for more easy recipes, folks. I’m always trying out new stuff in the kitchen, and I love sharing what works (and what doesn’t) with y’all. Peace out!
