Okay, so I was messing around with this “alphabetical list of fruits” thing online today, and let me tell you, it was kind of fun! This website has a big list of fruits for each letter of the alphabet, from A to Z. It’s pretty cool to see how many different fruits there are in the world.
So I started with the letter V, because why not, right? I wanted to find out a fruit that started with “V” in English. I scrolled through the list and saw so many kinds of fruits. The website said they have at least 40 fruits per letter, and I think they might have even more for some letters! It’s crazy!
Then I found something interesting. There’s this thing called “Vitis”. I read about it, and it turns out it’s the name for the whole grape family! Who knew? I mean, I love grapes, but I never thought about them having a whole family name. They said Vitis is where we get all those yummy grapes for eating, making juice, and even those sweet raisins.

I learned that grapes come in all sorts of colors and sizes. We all know about the green and red ones, but there are also black grapes, purple grapes, and even some that are almost pink! It’s amazing how many different kinds of grapes there are in the Vitis family.
So, I guess the big takeaway from my little adventure today is that there’s a whole world of fruit out there, and even something as simple as a grape has a lot more to it than you might think. And if you’re ever curious about fruits that start with a specific letter, there are websites out there that have all the info you need.
Here’s what I found out about Vitis:
- It’s the genus that includes all types of grapes.
- Grapes are used for eating fresh, making juice, and drying into raisins.
- Grapes come in lots of colors like green, red, black, and purple.
- They also come in different sizes.
It was a fun little thing to explore, and I thought I’d share it with you all. Maybe next time I’ll check out fruits that start with a different letter!
