Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “moonshine cocktails” all over my social media feeds, and they looked both refreshing and kinda fun. I decided, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, who doesn’t love a good DIY project, especially when it involves a tasty drink at the end?

Getting Started

First things first, I needed to, you know, actually get some moonshine. This wasn’t as shady as it sounds. I just went to the local liquor store. They had a surprising variety! I grabbed a jar of the plain, unflavored stuff, because I wanted to control the flavors myself. I chose one that said “100 proof” because I wanted it be real.

The Experimentation Phase

I gathered some fresh fruits from my garden– peaches, some blackberries I’d picked the other day, and a couple of limes. I also grabbed some mint from my little herb garden.

  • Peach Dream: I sliced up one peach and muddled it in a jar with a sprig of mint. Then, I poured in about 4 ounces of the moonshine and stirred it all up.I added a spoon of honey. I screwed the lid on tight and gave it a good shake. I let it sit for the test.
  • Blackberry Blast: This one was super simple. I crushed a handful of blackberries and mixed them with the moonshine (again, about 4 ounces). A squeeze of lime juice went in, and I shook it like crazy.

The Tasting

Okay, time for the fun part!

I poured some ice into two glasses.

  • The Peach Dream:Wow!This one was surprisingly smooth. The peach flavor was really strong, and the mint added a nice touch. The honey was perfect. It felt pretty strong.
  • The Blackberry Blast: This one had a bit more of a kick, probably because of the lime. The blackberries gave it a beautiful color and a nice, tart flavor. It was tasty, but strong! One glass was enough for me!

Final Thoughts

This was a blast! It’s so easy to customize these drinks to your own taste. I’m already thinking about trying a strawberry-basil version next.

It’s definitely something I’d do again, maybe for a small get-together with friends. Just remember to drink responsibly, folks – this stuff can sneak up on you!
