Okay, so I’ve been trying to up my breakfast game lately, and I stumbled upon this super easy way to make crispy potatoes. I’m talking about using frozen diced potatoes – yeah, the ones you find in the freezer aisle. It’s a total game-changer, especially for those busy mornings.
Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed a bag of frozen diced potatoes. I didn’t thaw them or anything, just straight from the freezer.
The Cooking Process
I heated up a good non-stick pan over medium-high heat. You want that pan nice and hot before you add anything. Then, I poured in a bit of oil – I used olive oil, but you can use whatever you like. Just enough to coat the bottom of the pan.

Once the oil was shimmering, I dumped in the frozen potatoes. Don’t overcrowd the pan! I made sure they were in a single layer, so they could all get crispy. If you put too many in, they’ll just steam instead of browning.
- No need to thaw them!
- Medium High Heat!
- Do not overcrowd that pan.
Patience is Key
Now, here’s the important part: I didn’t touch them. Seriously, I just let them sit there and sizzle for a good 5-7 minutes. You want that bottom layer to get nice and golden brown and crispy.
After that, I gave them a good flip. I used a spatula to kind of scrape them up and turn them over. Then, I let them cook for another 5-7 minutes, until they were cooked through and crispy all * want the color to be golden brown, not too much, not too little.
Seasoning Time!
Once they were looking good, I sprinkled on some seasoning. I kept it simple with salt, pepper, and a little garlic powder. You could totally get creative here – paprika, onion powder, chili powder, whatever you’re feeling! Just make sure you do not drop too much, that will ruin all the process we did.
The Result
And that’s it! I pulled them out of the pan and served them up. They were so crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Honestly, way better than I expected from frozen potatoes. It’s such a simple trick, but it makes a huge * going to be making these again, also might try it with some different seasoning next time.
