Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “Ritz Cracker Meatloaf” thing floating around the internet, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I mean, Ritz crackers? In meatloaf? It sounded kinda weird, but also kinda good, you know?

Getting Started

First things first, I grabbed my ingredients. I already had most of the stuff, like ground beef, an egg, some onions, and ketchup. The only thing I really needed to pick up was a box of Ritz crackers, obviously.

I preheated my oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While that was warming up, I took out a big mixing bowl and a 9×13 inch baking dish. I like to use glass, it easy to clean.

Mixing It Up

  • I crumbled about one and a half sleeves of Ritz crackers into the bowl. I just used my hands, it’s easier that way.
  • Then, I dumped in about two pounds of ground beef.
  • I chopped up half an onion, not too fine, I like to have some bigger pieces in there. That went into the bowl too.
  • Next, I cracked in one egg.
  • I added a little bit of salt and pepper, just a pinch of each.
  • For a little extra flavor, I squirted in some ketchup, maybe a quarter cup? I didn’t really measure.

Then came the fun part – getting my hands dirty! I mixed everything together until it was all combined. Don’t overmix it, though, or the meatloaf can get tough.

Baking Time

I shaped the mixture into a loaf shape and placed it in the baking dish. Then, I mixed a little more ketchup with some brown sugar for a glaze and spread that on top.

Into the oven it went! I baked it for about an hour, or until it was cooked all the way through. You can use a meat thermometer to check – it should be 160 degrees Fahrenheit in the center.

The Verdict

I let it cool for a few minutes before slicing it. And honestly? It was pretty darn good! The Ritz crackers added a nice buttery flavor and a bit of a different texture. It was definitely a fun twist on regular meatloaf. I might even make it again sometime!
