Okay, here is my sharing about making pancakes in an air fryer with parchment paper.
So, I saw this thing online about making pancakes in an air fryer. Sounded kinda weird, but also pretty cool, right? I mean, who doesn’t love a shortcut in the kitchen? I decided to give it a try, and let me tell you, it was an experience.
First off, I got my air fryer ready. I’ve had this thing for a while now, use it for everything – fries, chicken, you name it. Then, I grabbed some parchment paper. Now, the thing I read online said to use parchment paper to separate the batter, so you can stack ’em up. Sounded simple enough. I cut out a few squares, roughly the size of my air fryer basket.

Next up, the batter. I just used a regular pancake mix, the kind you just add water to. Nothing fancy. I made the batter according to the box instructions, got it nice and smooth. Then, I started layering. I put a piece of parchment paper in the air fryer basket, poured some batter on it, then another piece of parchment paper, more batter, and so on. I think I managed to stack about three layers.
I set the air fryer to the temperature the online thing suggested, I think it was around 350 degrees, and let it do its thing. It only took a few minutes, like five or six. I kept a close eye on it, ’cause I didn’t want burnt pancakes.
- Step 1: Get your air fryer and some parchment paper ready.
- Step 2: Make your pancake batter.
- Step 3: Layer the batter and parchment paper in the air fryer.
- Step 4: Cook for a few minutes until it’s done.
When the timer went off, I carefully took out the basket. The pancakes were cooked, alright. But they were kinda stuck to the parchment paper. It wasn’t as easy to separate them as I thought it would be. I had to peel them off carefully, and some of them tore a bit. They didn’t look perfect, but hey, they were cooked.
They tasted… okay. I mean, they were pancakes. But they were a bit denser than the ones I usually make on the stove. And the texture was a little different, not as fluffy. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t amazing either.
I learned that parchment paper is pretty cool. It can handle the heat in the air fryer, no problem. Turns out, it’s made of some special stuff that can take high temperatures. Who knew? I guess that is why people use it for baking cookies and stuff, too. There are some folks who use silicone molds to make pancakes in an air fryer. That’s probably why their pancakes are round and neat. Wish I had those silicone molds, it will make the pancakes look great.
All in all, it was a fun experiment. Would I do it again? Maybe. If I’m in a real hurry and don’t want to deal with a pan and stove, then yeah, sure. But if I have the time, I think I’ll stick to the old-fashioned way. There’s just something about flipping pancakes on a hot griddle that you can’t beat. It is not perfect, but I am definitely going to keep experimenting with my air fryer. Maybe next time, I’ll try making cookies in there!
Lessons I learned:
- Parchment paper can be used in an air fryer.
- Making pancakes in an air fryer is fast.
- The pancakes might stick to the parchment paper a little.
- Air fryer pancakes have a slightly different texture.
But at least I can say I’ve tried it, right? It’s all about having fun in the kitchen and trying new things, even if they don’t always turn out perfect. I hope this helps someone out there who’s thinking about trying this. Just remember to be careful when you’re peeling those pancakes off the paper!
