Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “Weight Watchers Angel Food Cake with Pineapple” thing all over the internet, and I had to try it. It sounded way too easy, but also kinda weird, to be honest. But hey, I’m all about simple desserts, especially if they’re supposed to be lighter on the calories.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed the ingredients. Literally just two things: a box of angel food cake mix and a can of crushed pineapple in juice (not syrup!). I made sure it was the kind packed in its own juice, because we’re not adding any extra sugar here.
Mixing it Up
Next up, I dumped both the cake mix and the undrained can of pineapple into a big bowl. Yep, the whole can, juice and all. It looked… soupy. I was seriously doubting this whole thing at this point, but I kept going.

I whisked it together. The instructions I saw online said to just use a whisk, not an electric mixer. I guess we’re trying to keep it light and fluffy, or something. It took a little bit of elbow grease, but eventually, it turned into this frothy, pale yellow batter.
Baking Time
Then I poured the batter into an ungreased tube pan. It felt wrong not to grease it, but again, I trusted the process (and the internet). I popped it into a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C).
I baked until golden brown, about 30 minutes.
The Moment of Truth
I let it cool completely upside down. This is apparently super important for angel food cake, so it doesn’t collapse. After that agonizing wait, I finally flipped it over and… it actually looked like a cake! A little pale, maybe, but definitely cake-like.
I cut myself a slice and took a bite. Honestly? Not bad! It’s definitely not as sweet as regular angel food cake, and it has a slightly tangy, pineapple-y flavor. It’s super moist, almost a little too moist in some spots, but the texture is surprisingly light and airy.
My Verdict
Would I make it again? Probably! It’s ridiculously easy, and it’s a nice change from heavier desserts. It’s not going to win any baking awards, but for a two-ingredient, Weight Watchers-friendly treat, it’s a solid win in my book. Just be prepared for that slightly different texture – it’s not exactly like traditional angel food cake, but it’s still pretty darn good.
I recorded the point in my Weight Watchers app!
