Okay, so the other day I decided to try grilling beef tips. I’ve seen a lot of recipes, but I wanted to keep it simple and see how it turns out with minimal fuss.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed about a pound and a half of beef sirloin tips from the grocery store. I picked ones that looked pretty lean, with not too much extra fat.
Once I got home, I took the beef tips out of the package and patted them dry with some paper towels. This is important to get a good sear on the grill.

Seasoning the Beef
I didn’t want to go crazy with marinades or anything, so I kept the seasoning simple. I just used:
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
I sprinkled a generous amount of each seasoning all over the beef tips, making sure to coat them evenly. Then, I tossed them around a bit to make sure everything was well-distributed.
Grilling Time
Next, I preheated my gas grill to medium-high heat. You want it nice and hot to get a good char.
Once the grill was hot, I placed the beef tips directly on the grates. I made sure not to overcrowd them, giving them enough space to cook evenly.
I let them sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side. You’ll want to keep an eye on them and adjust the cooking time depending on how thick your beef tips are and how well-done you like them.
I am a big fan of Mid-rare, so, after checking the beef, I took a tong and tested it. It felt good.
Rest and Serve
After, I took it from the grill, then I transferred the beef tips to a plate and let them rest for about 5-10 minutes. This is important to let the juices redistribute, making them more tender and flavorful.
Finally, I sliced the beef tips against the grain and served them up. The taste was pretty good, all the family loved it. They ate it all.

Honestly, it was a super easy and satisfying meal. Next time, maybe I’ll experiment with a marinade, but for a quick and tasty weeknight dinner, this simple grilling method worked perfectly!
