Mixed Berry Cobbler Recipe with Frozen Berries: How to Get Amazing Flavor Every Time

Hey everyone, today I want to share my little kitchen adventure with you guys. So, I had this big bag of frozen berries in my freezer, just sitting there, you know? And I was craving something sweet, but not like, overly complicated sweet. That’s when I thought, why not try making a mixed berry cobbler? I mean, it sounds fancy, but it’s actually pretty chill to make.

First things first, I grabbed that bag of frozen mixed berries out of the freezer. I didn’t even bother to thaw them, ’cause, who has time for that, right? Then, I dumped the berries into a big mixing bowl. I sprinkled in some sugar – not too much, just enough to balance out the tartness of the berries. A little squeeze of lemon juice went in there too, ’cause it adds a nice zing, you know?

Here’s a trick I learned from my mom: I tossed the berries in some salt, and cinnamon for some extra flavor. I know, it sounds a bit weird, putting salt and cinnamon in something sweet, but trust me, it works! It just elevates the whole thing. Also, frozen berries are great to make yogurt. The berries keep the yogurt cold but have thawed by the time. How great is that?!

Now, for the cobbler topping. I melted some butter in a separate bowl, then whisked in some flour, sugar, and a pinch of baking powder. This is the stuff that turns all golden and crispy in the oven, so you want to make sure it’s all mixed up nicely. Once that was done, I poured the batter over the berries in the bowl. I didn’t mix it, just let it sit on top like a little blanket.

Baking Time

  • Preheated my oven to 375°F (190°C). You gotta do this, or else the cobbler won’t bake evenly.
  • Popped the bowl into the oven and set the timer for about 45 minutes. But you know ovens, they all have their own personalities, so I started checking on it around the 40-minute mark.
  • You’ll know it’s done when the topping is all golden brown and the berries are bubbling underneath. It’s like a little berry volcano, it’s pretty cool.

Once it was out of the oven, I let it cool for a bit. I mean, you could dig in right away, but you might burn your tongue, and nobody wants that. After about 10-15 minutes, it was still warm but not scorching hot.

And there you have it, folks! My super easy, super delicious mixed berry cobbler made with frozen berries. I scooped some into a bowl, added a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top, ’cause why not? And devoured it. It was so good, you guys. The perfect mix of sweet, tart, and crispy. Definitely making this again!

If you’ve got a bag of frozen berries lying around, you gotta try this. It’s a total game-changer. Let me know how it goes if you do!
