Well, let me tell you somethin’ about that there Marie Callender’s Honey Butter Cornbread Mix. It ain’t half bad, not half bad at all. You know, I’ve tried a lot of them cornbread mixes in my day, and this one, it’s a keeper. Easy to make, too, even for an old gal like me.
Honey Butter Cornbread, Easy Peasy
Now, you just need a box of that Marie Callender’s stuff. That’s the secret, you see. They got it all figured out in that box. You don’t need to be no fancy cook to make this cornbread. Just add water, like magic, and a good cornbread will come out. I used to make it from scratch, with the cornmeal and the flour and all that, but this here mix, it’s just as good, maybe even better.
- Get yourself a box of Marie Callender’s Honey Butter Cornbread Mix.
- Get a bowl, a big one.
- Pour the mix in the bowl.
Just Add Water, Honey
This here cornbread mix, it’s simple. You just pour it in a bowl, add some water, and stir it up. That’s it! Some folks, they like to add milk instead of water. I reckon that’s fine, too. Milk make it more rich, but for me water is ok. Makes it taste like the cornbread my mama used to make. This one time, I even added a little bit of sour cream to the batter. Lordy, that was good! Made it real moist, you know? And a little tangy, too. Like a party in your mouth.
- Add water to the mix. Some folks use milk, that’s fine.
- Stir it up real good. No lumps!
Then you just pour it in a pan and bake it. I like to use my old cast iron skillet. Makes the crust real nice and crispy. But any pan will do, I reckon. If you want to get fancy, you can put a little butter in the bottom of the pan. Keeps it from stickin’, and makes it taste even better.
Bake it Till it’s Golden Brown
Now, you gotta preheat that oven. I set mine to 400 degrees. That seems to do the trick. Then you just pour that batter in the pan and pop it in the oven. How long you bake it depends on your oven, I guess. But I usually bake mine for about 20-25 minutes. You want it to be golden brown on top, and when you stick a toothpick in it, it should come out clean.
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
- Pour the batter in a greased pan.
- Bake it until it’s golden brown. About 20-25 minutes, maybe.
That Honey Butter, Oh My!
Now, this here mix, it’s called Honey Butter Cornbread for a reason. That honey butter, it’s what makes it special. You can serve it with regular butter, but the honey butter, that’s the cat’s meow. It’s like a little bit of heaven on your cornbread. You can buy it at the store, or you can make your own. Just mix some softened butter with a little honey. Easy as pie.
Some of these other cornbread mixes, they’re okay, I guess. But they ain’t got nothin’ on Marie Callender’s. I tried that Fleischmann’s Simply Homemade one time. It weren’t bad, but it was a little too sweet for my taste. And it didn’t have that honey butter flavor. This here Marie Callender’s Honey Butter Cornbread Mix, it’s just right. Not too sweet, not too dry. Just perfect.
Cornbread for Every Occasion
You can eat this cornbread with anything, you know. It’s good with chili, with stew, with beans. Heck, it’s good all by itself. Sometimes, I just eat a piece of cornbread with a glass of milk for supper. That’s all I need. This is a simple food, fit for any situation. You can make a whole bunch of different things with this cornbread mix. You can make muffins, or you can make a big old pan of it to share with your family. You know, if you got a big family like mine, you need a lot of cornbread. And Marie Callender’s, it always turns out good, no matter how much you make.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a good cornbread mix, I highly recommend Marie Callender’s Honey Butter Cornbread Mix. It’s the best one out there, in my humble opinion. And it’s so easy to make, even a young’un could do it. Just add water, mix it up, and bake it. Then slather it with that honey butter, and you’re good to go. You won’t be disappointed, I guarantee it.
