Okay, here is my blog post about making gluten-free sausage balls using Bisquick.
Alright, folks, so the other day I wanted to whip up some of those yummy sausage balls, but I needed them to be gluten-free. I’ve been trying to cut down on gluten, you know, for the health kick and all. So, I grabbed my box of gluten-free Bisquick and got to work.
First, I took out this big bowl I have – it’s my go-to for mixing stuff. I dumped in the gluten-free Bisquick mix. Then, I tossed in some spices. I used a bit of garlic powder, some onion powder, and a dash of paprika – nothing too fancy, just what I had in the cupboard. And cheese, of course! I added a couple of handfuls of shredded cheddar and a little bit of Parmesan ’cause why not? A little brown sugar went in there too. I just used a regular spoon to mix all of that dry stuff together, making sure it was all combined.

Next, I poured in some milk. I just eyeballed it, probably about half a cup or so? I stirred that in until the whole mixture was nice and wet, like a thick batter. Then came the sausage. I used about a pound of breakfast sausage, the kind that comes in a roll. I broke it up into the bowl and then got my hands dirty. I just mixed that sausage into the batter with my hands until it was all evenly distributed. Gotta make sure every bite has some sausage in it, right?
- Mixing Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, I combined the gluten-free Bisquick mix, spices (garlic powder, onion powder, paprika), shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and a bit of brown sugar. I mixed these together with a spoon.
- Adding Milk: I gradually added milk to the dry ingredients, stirring until the mixture formed a thick, wet batter.
- Incorporating Sausage: I added the breakfast sausage to the batter and used my hands to mix it thoroughly, ensuring the sausage was evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
Steps I followed
Once it was all mixed, I shaped the mixture into little balls, about an inch or so in diameter. It was a bit messy, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right? I lined them up on a baking sheet that I had sprayed down, then I popped them in the oven. I baked them at 375 degrees. It took about 20-25 minutes, but I kept an eye on them. You want them to be golden brown and cooked through.
And that’s it! They turned out pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. They were a hit with the family, even the ones who aren’t gluten-free. So, if you’re looking for an easy, tasty, and gluten-free appetizer, give these sausage balls a try. They’re perfect for parties, game days, or just a tasty snack. Easy peasy, and super yummy!
