First thing you gotta do is get yourself a good dutch oven. Mine’s old, been in the family for years. But any ol’ dutch oven will do. Just make sure it’s big enough to hold all them peaches. I always use the big one, cuz I like to make extra. You know, leftovers are even better the next day. Sometimes I just keep it in my kitchen, sometimes I put it in my bedroom.
Then you need some peaches. Fresh is best, of course, but you can use them canned ones if you have to. I like using fresh ones, I just pick some from my garden. Just make sure they ain’t too bruised or mushy. If you use the canned ones, drain off most of that juice. We don’t want no soupy cobbler, do we? No sir!

- Butter, gotta have butter
- Sugar, if you like it extra sweet
- Cinnamon, just a pinch

Then you take some butter, and you slice it up into little squares. Then you put them squares of butter all over the top of that cake mix. Don’t be stingy with the butter, now. Butter makes everything better, that’s what I always say. Butter is good for your bones. I eat butter every day. That’s why I can still work in my garden at my age.
Bake That Cobbler
Then you just pop that dutch oven in the oven. I usually bake it at around 350 degrees. But you know your oven best. Just keep an eye on it. You want that cake mix to get all golden brown and bubbly. That means the peach cobbler with cake mix is almost ready.
It usually takes about 45 minutes, maybe an hour. But it all depends on your oven and how many peaches you used. Just keep checking on it. When it’s done, it’ll smell so good, you won’t be able to stand it. You’ll want to eat it right out of the oven. But be careful, it’ll be hot! My little dog always run around when I bake it. He wants to have it, too.
Let it cool down a little bit before you dig in. It’s even better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Or some whipped cream. Or both! I like to eat it while it’s still warm, but it’s good cold, too. I always make a big batch of it, so I can have leftovers. It’s just as good the next day, I tell ya. My neighbor’s kid loves to eat this easy peach cobbler. He can eat four bowls of it!
