Okay, so I’ve been seeing these super cute mound cakes all over my feed, and I finally decided to give it a shot. I’m not the best baker, but I like to think I can follow a recipe pretty well. Turns out, this one was a bit of an adventure!
First, I gathered all my ingredients. You know, the usual suspects: flour, sugar, eggs, butter, baking powder, and some vanilla extract. I also grabbed some chocolate chips because, well, chocolate makes everything better, right?
Mixing It Up
The recipe I found said to cream together the butter and sugar until it’s light and fluffy. Honestly, my arms got a little tired, but I powered through! Then, I cracked in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each one. It started to look like actual cake batter at this point, which was encouraging.

Next, I whisked together the dry ingredients in a separate bowl – flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gotta make sure everything is evenly distributed, you know?
Then came the slightly tricky part. I had to gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until it was just combined. The recipe warned against overmixing, and I took that very seriously. Nobody wants a tough cake!
The Chocolatey Goodness
Once the batter was ready, I folded in the chocolate chips. I might have added a few extra… for quality control purposes, of course. Then came the “mound” part. I use my large ice cream scoop, scoop the batter on the baking sheet.
Baking Time
I popped the baking sheet into the preheated oven and set the timer. The recipe said 350°F(175°C) for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. This is where the waiting game began. My kitchen started to smell amazing, like warm vanilla and chocolate. It was torture!
- Check frequently, Every oven is a bit different.
- Use a toothpick to * it’s not clean, just give it a few more minutes.
- Let them cool. It is important.
The Final Result
I let the cake cool, They looked pretty good. The inside was soft and moist, and the chocolate chips were perfectly melty. I dusted a little bit of sugar powder on top, just for a finishing touch.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with how my mound cake turned out! It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely delicious. And hey, practice makes perfect, right? I’ll definitely be making these again soon.
