Okay, here’s my post about making a chocolate cherry dump cake in a slow cooker:
So, the other day I was craving something sweet, but I didn’t want to go through a whole big ordeal to bake something. You know how it is, right? Sometimes you just want a quick fix for your sweet tooth. That’s when I remembered this super easy recipe I saw online for a chocolate cherry dump cake made in a slow cooker.
First, I grabbed my slow cooker. It’s one of those smaller ones, perfect for desserts. Then, I opened a can of cherry pie filling and dumped it right into the bottom of the slow cooker. I spread it out a little with a spoon to make sure it was evenly distributed. I mean it doesn’t have to be perfect, just so that the bottom is covered.
Next, I took a box of chocolate cake mix. Any brand will do, just pick your favorite. I sprinkled the dry cake mix over the cherry pie filling, making sure it covered all the cherries. I did not mix the cake mix at all! This is what the dump cake is all about. I don’t know if you know it. Just dump it in, as it is said. Oh, one more thing, I used a spoon to spread the cake mix out evenly over the cherries.
After that, I sliced up a stick of butter into thin pats. I placed the butter pats all over the top of the cake mix. This is what makes the cake moist and delicious.
Finally, I put the lid on the slow cooker, set it to low, and walked away. I think I let it cook for about 2 or 3 hours. You’ll know it’s done when the cake is cooked through and the cherry filling is bubbly.
When it was done, I scooped out a big serving into a bowl and topped it with a dollop of whipped cream. You could also use ice cream, but I didn’t have any on hand. Honestly, it was so good! It was rich, chocolatey, and the cherries added a nice sweetness. Plus, it was so easy to make. I’ll definitely be making this again.
What I Used:
- One slow cooker
- One can of cherry pie filling
- One box of chocolate cake mix
- One stick of butter
- Some whipped cream (optional)
Give it a try sometime! You won’t regret it.
