Well, let me tell you, I heard folks talkin’ ’bout this newfangled thing, this “air fryer.” They say it’s like magic, cookin’ things up real good. Now, I ain’t one for fancy gadgets, but I do love me a good English muffin. So I got to thinkin’, can you toast English muffins in an air fryer?
My granddaughter, she’s got one of these air fryer things. She makes all sorts of stuff in it. Says it’s quicker than that old oven we got. She showed me how to use it once, but I forget most of it. Too many buttons for my likin’. Still, I was mighty curious about them English muffins.
So, I did some askin’ around. Turns out, you sure can toast those muffins in that air fryer! Here’s the gist of what I learned:
- First, you gotta warm up that air fryer. I think they call it “preheat.” Just like the regular oven. Someone told me 400 for, like, five minutes. That sounds about right. It’s gotta be hot.
- Then, you gotta split them muffins in half. You can use a fork, just poke it in there and pry it open. My hands ain’t what they used to be, so this is a little tricky, but I manage.
- Now, you put them halves in the air fryer basket. Make sure the cut side is facing up. Like little bowls. They should be in a single layer. That means not stacking them. If it’s too crowded, they won’t cook right.
- If you like things real buttery, you can spray a little somethin’ on top. Butter, or that oil stuff. I sometimes use melted butter if I have it. Makes ’em extra tasty.
- Then you close it up and let ’em toast. I hear it takes about 3-5 minutes. Not too long. You gotta check on ’em, though. Don’t want ’em to burn.
Some folks say you can cook ’em longer, maybe 380 for 15-20 minutes. They say to flip ’em halfway, so they get crispy all over. That sounds like a lot of work to me. I like things simple. I think the short time is better. Gets ’em toasted just how I like.
I tried it myself the other day. And you know what? It worked! Those English muffins came out all nice and toasty. Golden brown, just like they should be. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. It’s real easy, even for an old gal like me. Much easier than using that broiler thing in the oven. That thing always burns my bread.
I put some butter and jam on mine. My favorite is strawberry. My husband, he likes his with just butter. He’s a simple man. We ate ’em up real quick. Better than any toast I ever made in that old toaster of ours.
So, if you got one of these air fryer things, you should try it. It’s a real easy way to toast English muffins. Even I can do it, and I ain’t good with these new gadgets. It’s quicker, too. And they come out perfect every time. You won’t be disappointed. It’s like magic, I tell ya. Magic!
You can put anything on ’em. Butter, jam, honey, whatever you like. They’re good for breakfast, or a snack, or anytime, really. I even heard some folks make little pizzas on ’em. I might have to try that sometime.
Air fryer English muffins, that’s what I call ’em now. They’re the best. I don’t think I’ll ever use my old toaster again. This air fryer thing, it’s alright. It makes good English muffins. I might even try cooking other things in it. Maybe some potatoes. Or chicken. We’ll see.
Just remember, don’t overcrowd that basket. And keep an eye on them muffins so they don’t burn. It’s easy to do, really. If I can do it, anyone can. Toasting English muffins in an air fryer, it is the way to go. You won’t regret it. And they’re so tasty! Now I’m hungry again. Think I’ll go make myself another one.
