Okay, so I’ve been trying to up my smoothie game lately, and today’s experiment was a pineapple mango smoothie. I wanted to see how many calories were in it, you know, just to keep track of things. First, I grabbed my blender and tossed in some frozen mango chunks. I love using frozen fruit because it makes the smoothie nice and cold without needing a ton of ice.
Next, I added some fresh pineapple. I just cut it up into chunks – wasn’t too worried about being precise. I probably used about half a cup of diced pineapple, maybe a little more.
- Add Ingredients: Tossed the mango and pineapple into the blender.
- Blend: Blitzed it all up until it was smooth. It took a couple of minutes to get rid of all the chunks.
After blending, I wanted to figure out the calories. A quick search told me that about 100 grams of pineapple has around 50 calories. I used maybe a bit less than 100 grams, I also found that half a cup of diced pineapple is around 37 calories, so my portion was for sure less than 50 calories. And for the mango, I checked around and figured my frozen chunks were maybe around 70-80 calories for the amount I used.

My smoothie probably had around 120 calories in total.
I poured it into a glass and enjoyed it. It was super refreshing and not too sweet, which I liked. The whole process was pretty quick, maybe 10 minutes from start to finish. I also looked up some info about the calories in McDonald’s mango pineapple smoothie, and it looks like their 12 oz serving has 220 calories. Mine was definitely smaller than that, so that makes sense. And one place said their large serving has 340 calories, wow, a big difference! Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, it is tasty and the calories are not too high.
I saw one more information, it seems the 1 serving of this smoothie has about 141 calories, well, I think the data vary from how you make this and also based on the amount of fruit you put in. And I also found that a version of this kind of smoothie could be as low as 115 calories, probably it was made with more water or ice.
Definitely going to make this again. Maybe next time I’ll add some spinach or something to make it even healthier. It is such a fun journey to try new things!
