Okay, so, today I tried to make a beef sirloin tip roast in my pressure cooker. I gotta say, it turned out pretty darn good! Let me tell you how I did it.
Find a Big Chunk of Meat
First off, I went to the grocery store and picked up a nice-looking sirloin tip roast. It was about 3 pounds, which is a good size for a family meal. I also grabbed some other stuff I needed – you know, the usual suspects like onions, garlic, carrots, and potatoes.
Get Everything Ready
Back home, I got all my ingredients prepped. I chopped up one large onion and a few cloves of garlic. Then I peeled and sliced some carrots and cubed a couple of potatoes. Nothing fancy, just regular-sized chunks.

Season and Sear the Beef
Next, I seasoned the roast generously with salt, pepper, and some dried herbs I had in the pantry – I think it was thyme and rosemary. After that, I heated up some oil in my pressure cooker and seared the roast on all sides. This helps to lock in the juices and gives it a nice crust.
Chuck Everything into the Pot
Once the roast was nicely browned, I took it out of the pot for a sec. Then I tossed in the onions and garlic and cooked them for a few minutes until they softened up a bit. I poured in a cup of beef broth to deglaze the pot, making sure to scrape up any brown bits from the bottom. That’s where all the flavor’s at!
Pressure Cooker Time!
I put the roast back in the pressure cooker, along with the carrots and potatoes. I added another cup of beef broth, closed the lid, and set the pressure cooker to high for about 50 minutes. You need that time to make this cut of meat tender. Then I did a quick pressure release and opened it up.
Make the Gravy and Serve
The roast was super tender – you could cut it with a fork! I removed the meat and veggies from the pot and let the roast rest for a bit. While it was resting, I made a simple gravy by thickening the cooking liquid with a cornstarch slurry. I just whisked some cornstarch with cold water, then stirred it into the hot liquid until it thickened up.
Finally, I sliced the roast and served it with the veggies and gravy. It was a hit with the whole family! The meat was juicy and flavorful, and the gravy was the perfect finishing touch. Using a pressure cooker really speeds up the process and makes it easy to get a tender roast without a lot of fuss.
- Tip 1: Don’t be afraid to season the meat well. It can handle it!
- Tip 2: Searing the roast before pressure cooking adds a ton of flavor.
- Tip 3: Let the roast rest before slicing to keep it nice and juicy.
So there you have it – my adventure making a beef sirloin tip roast in the pressure cooker. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a go. It’s a simple and delicious meal that’s sure to please!
