About Toll House Pie: Does It Need to Be Refrigerated or Not? Find Out Here

Okay, so the other day I got this craving for Toll House pie. You know, that chocolate chip cookie pie thing? I decided to make it myself because why not, right? I followed the recipe I found online, which was pretty simple, just mixing a bunch of stuff and baking it. I am not good at cooking, though.

After it came out of the oven, it looked and smelled amazing. I let it cool down a bit, sliced it up, and had a piece. It tasted really good, so I had another. But then I was kinda full and didn’t know what to do with the rest of the pie. Usually, I just leave stuff out on the counter, but this pie felt different.

I started thinking, “Does this thing need to be refrigerated?” I mean, it’s got eggs and butter and stuff in it. I didn’t want to get sick from eating old pie, so I did a quick search online. I found a couple of different ideas about the storage method of pies.

  • Some people said it’s fine to leave it out at room temperature, especially if you’re gonna eat it within a day or two.
  • Others were all like, “No way, put that pie in the fridge!” They said it’s safer because of the ingredients.

So I ended up doing a test. I decided to put the pie in the fridge and cover it with plastic wrap. I also read somewhere to do that, so I did it.

The next day, I took the pie out, let it sit for a while to warm up, and then tried a piece. It was still good! Actually, it tasted even better cold, and the texture was kind of fudgy. I think I actually prefer it cold now. The taste is better. Maybe I’ll try to heat it up next time.

Anyway, I kept the rest of the pie in the fridge and ate it over the next few days. It was still good each time. I think putting it in the fridge was the right call. It kept it fresh, and I didn’t have to worry about getting sick. I am glad I didn’t get sick.

Conclusion:

So, yeah, that’s my Toll House pie experience. If you make one, I’d say just put it in the fridge. It’s better to be safe than sorry, and it actually tastes pretty good cold, too. But if you’re gonna eat it the same day, leaving it out is probably fine, I guess. I don’t know. Just don’t come crying to me if you get sick, haha!
