Okay, so, I tried to make a Jello instant pudding pie today. It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing. I was at the grocery store and saw the Jello pudding mix, and I remembered how much I used to love that stuff as a kid.
So, I grabbed a box of the chocolate flavor, and a pre-made graham cracker crust. I figured, why not? It’s easy enough, right?
Getting Started
First, I opened the graham cracker crust package. Then, I carefully lifted up that little foil edge around the pie shell. After that, I took off the plastic cover and gently pressed the foil back down around the edge of the pie pan. You know, just to make sure it was all neat and tidy.

Mixing the Pudding
Next, I dumped the pudding mix into a bowl. I added in two cups of cold milk. I used whole milk because that’s all I had, but I think you can use any kind. Then, I grabbed my whisk and started beating the mixture together.
- I whisked it for a solid two minutes, just like the box said.
- It started to thicken up pretty quickly, which was cool.
Setting the Pie
The box said the pudding would be soft-set in five minutes, so I poured about half of the pudding into the pie crust and then waited.
After five minutes, I stirred some Cool Whip into the rest of the pudding, about a cup. Then I spooned that mixture over the first layer in the crust.
Honestly, the hardest part was waiting for it to set up in the fridge! I ended up leaving it in there for a few hours, just to be sure. It was torture, I tell you! But, hey, it turned out pretty good, I think. It’s not exactly like the picture on the box, but it’s definitely edible.
Next time, I might try a different flavor, maybe vanilla. Or I might get fancy and add some fresh fruit on top. We’ll see. Anyway, that’s my Jello pudding pie adventure. Not bad for a quick dessert, I’d say!
