Okay, so the other day I was feeling a little fancy but also kinda lazy. You know, one of those nights where you want a cocktail, but you don’t want to go full-on mixologist. I had some Baileys in the fridge from, uh, a while ago, and a bottle of vodka that’s always around. I thought, “Why not combine the two?” So, I started my little experiment.
Mixing Stuff Up
First, I grabbed a couple of glasses. Nothing special, just regular old tumblers. I filled them with some ice cubes, straight from the freezer. I like my drinks cold, okay?
Then I decided to try a “layered” drink. I have seen those skillful guys doing layered drinks. I thought it can not be that hard. I poured some Baileys into the glass. No measuring, just eyeballing it. I filled about a third of the glass, I guess.
Next, the tricky part. I took the vodka and poured it really slowly over the back of a spoon, trying to make it float on top of the Baileys. Like they do in those fancy cocktail bars,haha.
- Attempt 1: Total fail. The vodka just mixed right in with the Baileys. It looked like muddy water, to be honest.
- Attempt 2: Slightly better. I poured even slower, and I could kind of see a separation, but it wasn’t very impressive.
Giving Up (Sort Of)
Okay, so the layered thing wasn’t working. My skills is not good enough. I decided to just embrace the chaos and mixed the vodka and Baileys together with the spoon. It turned into a creamy, light brown concoction.
I took a sip. Not bad! It was sweet, creamy, with that little kick from the vodka. The Baileys flavor definitely dominated, but the vodka added some…oomph.
The Simple Way
Then, I thought, “Let’s try something simpler.” I put the ice, Baileys and vodka at the same time and blended it.
Much better! I think with blended style, the taste can be better mixed.
Final Thoughts
So, would I make this again? Yeah, probably. It’s super easy, and it tastes pretty good. It’s not the prettiest drink, especially when I tried to layer it, but who cares? It’s a good combination and I got my drink! Perfect for a lazy night in.
Next time, I might try adding a little chocolate syrup or something, just to spice things up. Or maybe some coffee? The possibilities are endless, once you decide to be an inventor.
