Okay, so I’ve been craving some good ol’ comfort food lately, and nothing screams comfort like Bob Evans. I decided to try and recreate some of their magic in my own kitchen. Here’s how it went down.
The Mission: Bob Evans Feast
I wasn’t going for anything fancy, just some classic dishes. I decided to tackle their:
- Sausage Gravy & Biscuits: A must-have, right?
- Mashed Potatoes: Gotta have those creamy, buttery potatoes.
- Macaroni and Cheese: Because, cheese.
The Sausage Gravy & Biscuit Adventure
First, the biscuits. Honestly, I cheated a little and used store-bought ones. I’m not a baker, so I didn’t want to mess that up. But the gravy? That was all me.

I browned some sausage in a pan. I love getting all those little crispy bits – adds so much flavor. Then, I sprinkled in some flour, letting it cook for a minute or two. This part is important – it thickens the gravy.
Next, I slowly poured in some milk, stirring constantly. This is where patience comes in. You gotta keep stirring to avoid lumps. Once it started to thicken, I added some salt, pepper, and a little bit of garlic powder – my secret weapon!
I let it simmer for a bit, letting all those flavors get to know each other. And boom! Sausage gravy perfection.
Mashed Potato Mayhem
For the mashed potatoes, I peeled and boiled some potatoes until they were super soft. Then, the fun part: mashing! I’m a simple girl, so I just used a hand masher.
I added in a good chunk of butter – because, why not? – and some milk, stirring it all together until it was creamy and dreamy. Salt and pepper to taste, of course.
Macaroni and Cheese Mania
Okay, the mac and cheese. I cooked some elbow macaroni according to the box. While that was going, I melted some butter in a saucepan and whisked in some flour to make a roux (that’s the fancy term for the base of the cheese sauce).
Then, I slowly added milk, stirring constantly (sensing a theme here?). Once it was nice and thick, I tossed in a bunch of shredded cheddar cheese. Like, a LOT of cheese.
I stirred until the cheese was all melted and gooey. Then I mixed in the cooked macaroni. Simple, cheesy goodness.

The Result: Comfort Food Heaven!
Putting it all together – the biscuits smothered in sausage gravy, the creamy mashed potatoes, and the cheesy mac and cheese – it was like a little slice of Bob Evans heaven right in my own kitchen. It wasn’t perfect, but it was darn good, and it definitely hit the spot. Now, if you excuse me, I’m going to go have some leftovers!
