Hey everyone, it’s your guy again, and today I’m gonna try something new in the kitchen. I got this idea to make some cookies, but not just any cookies – I’m talking about cookies made from Pillsbury strawberry cake mix. Yeah, you heard that right. Cake mix cookies! Sounds kinda wild, but I saw someone do it online, and I thought, why not give it a shot?

So, first things first, I went and grabbed a box of that Pillsbury strawberry cake mix from my pantry. I also needed a couple of other things – two eggs, and half a cup of vegetable oil. That’s it, just three ingredients. I couldn’t believe how simple it was. I mean, I’ve baked cookies before, but usually, there’s a whole list of stuff you need, like flour, sugar, baking soda, and all that jazz.

Mixing It Up

I cracked the two eggs into a big bowl, poured in the oil, and then dumped the whole bag of cake mix in there. I got a big spoon and started mixing everything together. It was a bit of a workout, to be honest. The batter, or dough, or whatever you wanna call it, was pretty thick. But after a few minutes of stirring, it all came together into this pink, gooey mess. It smelled pretty good, though, like strawberries and sugar. Reminds me of my childhood.

Baking Time

Next, I preheated my oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While that was heating up, I lined a baking sheet with some parchment paper. Then, I started scooping out spoonfuls of the dough and dropping them onto the sheet. I made sure to leave some space between each one because I figured they’d spread out while baking. Once the sheet was full, I popped it in the oven and set a timer for about 10 minutes.

  • The first batch, I let them bake for the full 10 minutes. When I took them out, they were golden brown around the edges and looked kinda crispy.
  • The second batch, I only did for about 8 minutes. These ones were softer and a bit more cake-like.

Taste Test

After letting them cool for a bit, it was time for the taste test. The crispy ones were pretty good – they had a nice crunch to them, but they were still soft in the middle. The softer ones were my favorite, though. They were super moist and had a strong strawberry flavor. I ended up eating way too many of them, but hey, no regrets. I shared some of them with my family and they also liked them a lot. My wife suggested that I could try adding some chocolate chips next time, which is a great idea.

Overall, I’d say this little experiment was a success. Who knew you could make decent cookies from cake mix? It’s definitely something I’ll try again, maybe with different flavors. If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to satisfy your sweet tooth, give this a shot. You might be surprised!
