Okay, so today I wanted to try something new in the kitchen, and I thought, why not use some Philadelphia cream cheese in a chicken dish? I’ve got this block of cream cheese just sitting in my fridge, and I’m craving some comfort food. This is how I did it.

Getting Started

First, I grabbed the cream cheese and some chicken breasts from the fridge. I also pulled out some basic seasonings like salt, pepper, and garlic powder. I figured I’d keep it simple to really let the cream cheese shine.

Prepping the Chicken

I started by preheating my oven to 375°F (190°C). While that was warming up, I seasoned the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and a generous sprinkle of garlic powder. I wanted to make sure they had some flavor before adding the cream cheese. It is good!

Adding the Cream Cheese

Next, I took the block of Philadelphia cream cheese and sliced it into thick pieces. I laid the seasoned chicken breasts in a baking dish and placed the cream cheese slices on top of each piece of chicken. I thought about mixing the cream cheese with some herbs, but I decided to keep it pure this time.

Besides that, I prepared to make a very simple sauce. Use a little milk or chicken broth, just add a little to the cream cheese. A little stirring, and the two will blend together perfectly, and the chicken won’t be too dry after it comes out of the oven.

Baking Time

I covered the baking dish with foil and popped it into the preheated oven. I let it bake for about 30 minutes, then removed the foil and baked it for another 10-15 minutes. I wanted the chicken to be fully cooked and the cream cheese to be nicely melted and a bit bubbly. In the end I found out that it took a little bit longer, maybe 45 mins? It depends on your oven I guess.

Final Touches

Once the chicken was done, I took it out of the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. I noticed that the cream cheese had melted beautifully over the chicken, creating a creamy, delicious sauce. I also sprinkled some shredded cheddar on top because, you know, why not add more cheese?

Serving It Up

I served the Philadelphia cream cheese chicken with some steamed broccoli and a side of mashed potatoes. It was the perfect comfort meal, and the cream cheese added such a rich and satisfying flavor to the chicken. My family loved it, and it was surprisingly easy to make. So, I think I made the right call by not mixing herbs. It was a hit!

  • Tip 1: If you want to add some extra flavor, try mixing the cream cheese with some herbs like parsley or chives before baking.
  • Tip 2: You can also add a layer of vegetables at the bottom of the baking dish for a complete meal.

All in all, this experiment turned out great. I’ll definitely be making this again. Maybe next time I’ll try adding some different cheeses or maybe even some bacon. The possibilities are endless when you have a block of Philadelphia cream cheese in your fridge!
