Alright, folks, gather ’round, because today I’m gonna share my little adventure making lavender lemonade with lavender syrup. It’s not rocket science, but it sure is tasty!
First things first, I gotta make the lavender syrup. Now, I’ve heard some folks say a little lavender goes a long way, and boy, they ain’t kidding. Too much and you’re drinking perfume. So, I grabbed my dried culinary lavender – gotta make sure it’s the culinary kind, you don’t wanna be using the stuff from your grandma’s potpourri.
I made the simple syrup, I saw a tip online, it said making it up to a week in advance, so I followed it, just sugar and water, heated it up until the sugar all melted away. Then I tossed in a bit of that lavender, let it steep for a while, and then strained out the flowers. I poured that pretty purple syrup into a bottle and stuck it in the fridge. They say it lasts a couple of weeks, which is good because I only needed a bit.

Making the Lemonade
Next up, the lemonade. I squeezed a bunch of lemons – fresh is best, people! I tried it with bottled juice once, and let me tell you, it’s just not the same. I mixed that lemon juice with water and then added some of that homemade lavender syrup. Now, here’s where you gotta be careful. I added a little at a time, tasting as I went. I found that less is more with that syrup. A lot of recipes online say to use, like, a cup or more of sugar, but holy moly, that’s way too sweet for me. I ended up using way less and it was still plenty sweet.
Once I got the sweetness right, I chilled that lemonade in the fridge. You want it nice and cold, trust me. Then, when it was time to serve, I filled some glasses with ice and poured that beautiful lavender lemonade over it. I even threw in a lemon slice and a sprig of lavender to make it look all fancy. The color was a really pretty, pale purple.
- Tip 1: Don’t go overboard with the lavender. A little goes a long way!
- Tip 2: Taste as you go when adding the syrup. You can always add more, but you can’t take it out!
- Tip 3: Use fresh lemons, not the bottled stuff. It makes a huge difference.
- Tip 4: Chill your lemonade well. It’s way better cold.
And that’s it! It was a fun little experiment, and the lemonade turned out delicious. It’s a nice change from regular lemonade, and it’s perfect for a hot summer day. If you’re feeling adventurous, give it a try. You might just surprise yourself!
