Hey everyone, I’m back with another cooking adventure! Today, I got it in my head to try and make that Panda Express grilled teriyaki chicken. You know, the one that’s always so juicy and flavorful? Yeah, that one. I’ve always wondered how they get it so perfect. So, I did a little digging, found some stuff online, and decided to give it a shot myself.
First, I went and gathered all the ingredients. It looked like the main players were soy sauce, sugar, ginger, and garlic. I also saw something called “mirin” used in a few places, which is apparently some kind of rice wine. I managed to find some at my local Asian market. After getting everything, I started with the teriyaki sauce.
I grabbed a small bowl and started mixing. I poured in some soy sauce, added a good amount of sugar, and then tossed in some grated ginger and minced garlic. Oh, and I also added a splash of that mirin I found. It smelled kinda sweet and interesting. I whisked everything together until the sugar was all dissolved. It looked pretty good, just like the stuff you get at the restaurant, maybe a bit darker.

Next up, the chicken. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs because that’s what they seemed to use at Panda Express. I placed the chicken in a big ziplock bag and poured in the teriyaki sauce, making sure all the pieces were nicely coated. Then, I sealed the bag and stuck it in the fridge. I figured it needed at least a few hours to marinate properly, so I left it there for about four hours.
Once the chicken had been marinating for a while, I fired up my grill. I waited until it was nice and hot, then took the chicken out of the fridge. I laid the pieces out on the grill, making sure they weren’t overcrowded. The smell was amazing as soon as they hit the heat. I flipped them a few times, making sure they cooked evenly. After about 10 minutes, they looked perfectly grilled, with those nice char marks.
After taking them off the grill, I sliced the chicken into strips, just like they do at Panda Express. I gave it a taste, and wow, it was pretty darn close to the real thing! The chicken was tender and juicy, and the teriyaki flavor was spot on. It had that perfect balance of sweet and savory.
So, there you have it. My attempt at making Panda Express grilled teriyaki chicken. I have to say, it turned out pretty awesome. It’s definitely something I’ll be making again. If you’re a fan of teriyaki chicken, you should give this a try. It’s not too complicated, and the results are delicious!
