Okay, so I’ve been seeing this Lidia’s Chocolate Ricotta Brick Cake recipe floating around, and I had to try it. I mean, chocolate and ricotta? Sounds amazing, right? I finally gave it a shot, and here’s how it went down.
Getting Started
First things first, I gathered all my ingredients. I double-checked to make sure I had everything, because there’s nothing worse than getting halfway through a recipe and realizing you’re missing something. I am very forgetful sometimes.
I preheated my oven. Gotta have that ready to go!

The Mixing Process
I grabbed a big bowl and tossed in the ricotta, sugar, and eggs. I whisked that all together until it was nice and smooth. It took a little bit of elbow grease, but I got there.
Then, in a separate bowl, I melted the chocolate. I used the microwave, doing it in short bursts and stirring in between so it wouldn’t burn. Once it was all melty and smooth, I poured it into the ricotta mixture and folded it in gently. You don’t want to overmix it.
Baking Time
I poured the batter into a prepared loaf pan. I lined mine with parchment paper to make it super easy to lift out later. Then, into the oven it went!
I set at the right time and temperature.
The Waiting Game
The hardest part? Waiting for it to bake! My kitchen started to smell amazing, all chocolatey and delicious. I kept peeking through the oven door, watching it slowly rise.
The Big Reveal
Finally, the timer went off! I pulled the cake out of the oven and let it cool completely in the pan. This is important, or it might fall apart when you try to take it out. Once it was cool, I lifted it out using the parchment paper.
Then put it into a plate.

The Taste Test
Okay, the moment of truth! I sliced off a piece and took a bite. Oh. My. Goodness. It was SO good! Rich, chocolatey, and the ricotta made it so moist and creamy. Seriously, you guys need to try this recipe. It’s a winner!
