Okay, so I’ve been trying to up my protein lately, and what better way to do that than by sneaking it into my favorite treats? I’m a sucker for banana bread, and I thought, “Why not combine the best of both worlds?” That’s how I ended up making this chocolate protein powder banana bread.

First, I grabbed my ripest bananas – the spottier, the better, you know the drill. Mashed those suckers up in a big bowl. I used like three, maybe four, medium-sized ones. Then, I dumped in a couple of eggs, some milk (I used almond milk, but whatever you’ve got works), and a splash of vanilla extract. Gave it all a good whisk.

Now, for the dry ingredients. Instead of regular flour, I used whole meal flour. And here’s the star of the show: chocolate protein powder! I added a couple of scoops of that goodness into the mix. It makes the bread extra chocolatey and packs in that protein punch. I also threw in some baking soda, baking powder, and a pinch of salt to make sure it rises properly.

Mixing it Up

Next, I slowly added the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. You don’t want to overmix it, or the bread will be tough. I learned that the hard way in the past. Once it was all mixed, I folded in some chocolate chips because, well, why not? More chocolate is always a good idea.

Baking Time

I greased up a loaf pan and poured the batter in. Popped that bad boy into a preheated oven at around 350 degrees Fahrenheit. It took about 50-60 minutes to bake, but you can do the toothpick test to be sure. Just stick a toothpick in the center, and if it comes out clean, it’s done.

The smell while it was baking was heavenly, let me tell you. Chocolate and banana wafting through the house. When it was finally done, I let it cool for a bit before slicing into it.

Final Results

  • It was moist, it was chocolatey, and it was packed with protein.
  • The texture was a bit denser than regular banana bread, but in a good way, thanks to the whole meal flour and protein powder.
  • This is a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth while also getting some extra protein in.

I’ve been having a slice for breakfast or as a snack, and it’s been keeping me full and energized. Plus, it’s way better than those sugary store-bought banana breads. I feel good knowing that I’m eating something homemade and relatively healthy.

I’m definitely making this again. Maybe next time, I’ll try adding some nuts or experimenting with different flavors of protein powder. The possibilities are endless!
