Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little project from the other day – messing around with cane tips. Specifically, the 3/4 inch ones.
So, I started by realizing my favorite walking stick was getting a bit worn down at the bottom. You know, that annoying scraping sound on the pavement? Yeah, time for a new tip.
I headed to the local hardware store – nothing fancy, just your average neighborhood spot. I found the cane tips tucked away in a bin near the furniture pads and stuff. There were a few different sizes, but I needed the 3/4 inch ones, so I grabbed a pack.

The Preperation
Back home, I gathered my tools. Which, let’s be honest, wasn’t much. I just needed:
- The new cane tip (obviously!)
- A small hammer.
- Maybe some pliers, if the old tip put a fight.
The replacement process
First, I tried to wiggle the old tip off. Sometimes they just pop right off, but this one was being stubborn. So, I grabbed my pliers and with some gentle but, persuaded the worn tip off, it finally came loose.
Next, I took the new 3/4 inch tip and lined it up with the bottom of the cane. I gave it a few taps with my fingers, to get to be placed initially.
Then, the fun part! With a few firm but gentle taps,I hammered the new cane tip into the stick. I made sure it was snug and secure.
Testing
I took the cane for a little test walk around the house. No more scraping! It felt solid and stable. Success!
Honestly, the whole thing took maybe 10 minutes. It’s one of those little DIY tasks that’s super easy but makes a big difference. My trusty walking stick is good as new, and I saved myself a trip to get it repaired (or worse, buying a new one!).
