Okay, so today I want to talk about something I’ve been messing around with lately – strawberry vinaigrette dressings. You know, those sweet and tangy dressings that make salads actually enjoyable? I went on a little mission to try out a bunch of different brands and see which ones are worth your money.

Off to the Store

First, I hit up a few different grocery stores around my area. You wouldn’t believe how many options there are! It’s kind of overwhelming, to be honest. I grabbed a bunch that looked interesting, some from brands I recognized and some I’d never heard of. It did not cost too much, almost 2 dollars for one bottle, that was acceptable.

Taste Test Time

Then came the fun part – the taste test! I whipped up a simple salad with some spinach, strawberries, and feta cheese. I wanted to keep it basic so I could really focus on the dressing flavor. I had a total of 5-6 bottles of dressings for tasting.

  • Brand 1: This one was super sweet, almost like a dessert dressing. Not bad, but not really what I was looking for in a vinaigrette.
  • Brand 2: This one was way too vinegary. It overpowered everything else in the salad.
  • Brand 3: This one called “Wish-Bone” had a nice balance of sweet and tangy. I could actually taste the strawberries, which was a plus. And it contains 50 calories per serving and zero grams, that was pretty good.
  • Brand 4: This one was a bit bland. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really add much to the salad.
  • Brand 5: I can’t remember the brand name, but it was a “light” version. It was okay, but I prefer the full-fat stuff. The “light” was less tasty than others.

My Thoughts

After trying all these different dressings, I realized that there’s a huge variation in flavor and quality. Some are definitely better than others. I also realized that “light” versions usually were less tasty than the full-fat stuff. It seemed that the “light” versions were trying to be healthier but lost flavor.

My Pick

My favorite out of the bunch was definitely the “Wish-Bone” one. I will buy it again. It had the best balance of flavors and actually tasted like strawberries. I’d definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a good strawberry vinaigrette. To be honest, I am not a big fan of salad, but the “Wish-Bone” one really makes salad enjoyable.

Anyway, that’s my little dressing adventure. Hope this helps you find your perfect strawberry vinaigrette! Let me know if you have any other brands I should try!
