Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “orange cranberry relish” thing all over the place, and it’s always that Ocean Spray recipe. I figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, how hard could it be, right?
Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed the ingredients. Pretty simple stuff, actually:
- One bag of fresh cranberries (12 ounces, I think).
- One orange – just a regular one.
- Some sugar. The recipe I saw called for a cup, but I’ll get to that later.
I washed everything – the cranberries and the orange. Gotta make sure it’s all clean, you know?

The Process (aka My Mild Chaos)
Then came the fun part. I quartered the orange, peel and all. Yes, the whole thing! That felt a little weird, not gonna lie. I tossed the orange quarters and the cranberries into my food processor. If you don’t have one, I guess you could chop everything up really, really fine, but that sounds like a lot of work.
I pulsed the food processor a few times. I didn’t want cranberry-orange soup, just a nice, chunky relish. So I checked the consistency, pulsed a bit more, checked again… you get the idea. It’s like making sure your toast isn’t burnt – gotta keep an eye on it!
Sugar Time
Once it looked good, I dumped the mixture into a bowl. Now, about that sugar… the recipe I saw used a whole cup. I added about half of that to start, stirred it in, and took a little taste. It was… tart! Like, really tart. I added a bit more sugar, stirred, tasted, and repeated that until it was sweet enough for me. I probably ended up using closer to 3/4 of a cup, but it’s really up to your taste buds.
Chill Out (Literally)
Finally, I covered the bowl and stuck it in the fridge. The recipe said to chill it for at least a few hours, but honestly, I snuck a few spoonfuls before then. It gets better as it sits, though. The flavors really meld together, and it’s super refreshing.
That is all. It is not a difficult one. Just put everything together and make it.
