Okay, so the other day I was really craving a mango smoothie. Usually, I just toss some yogurt in there, but I was totally out. No biggie, I figured there had to be a way to make it work without yogurt, and guess what? There totally is!

My No-Yogurt Mango Smoothie Experiment

First, I grabbed my trusty blender. Seriously, this thing is a lifesaver. Then, I dug around in my freezer and found a bag of frozen mango chunks. Score! I like using frozen fruit because it makes the smoothie nice and thick without needing a ton of ice.

I dumped about a cup and a half of the frozen mango into the blender. Then I added about half a cup of orange juice. I figured the juice would add some sweetness and help everything blend smoothly.

Next, I tossed in a few ice cubes, just to make sure it was extra cold. I didn’t want it to be too watery, though, so I only used like, four or five.

Now for the secret ingredient – a little bit of milk! I just used regular milk, but I bet almond milk or coconut milk would be awesome too. I added about a quarter of a cup. It really helped to give the smoothie that creamy texture I was missing from the yogurt.

I put the lid on the blender and let it rip! I blended it for a good minute or so, until everything was completely smooth and there were no chunks of mango left. You might need to stop and scrape down the sides a couple of times, depending on your blender.

Finally, I poured it into a glass and… success! It was seriously delicious. Super creamy, perfectly sweet, and totally hit the spot. The milk totally did the trick in place of the yogurt. I was so proud of my little kitchen experiment!

So, if you’re ever out of yogurt but still want a mango smoothie, don’t sweat it! Just grab some frozen mango, juice, a splash of milk, and a few ice cubes, and you’re good to go. Honestly, I might even make it this way from now on!
