Okay, so I finally caved and bought a Ninja Creami. I kept seeing all these crazy ice cream recipes online, and I just had to try it out. Today, I decided to make banana protein ice cream, and let me tell you, it was an adventure.
First, I grabbed a couple of ripe bananas. Now, I read somewhere that you don’t need to freeze them beforehand, so I didn’t. I just tossed them into my blender. Then, I added a cup of milk. I used regular whole milk, ’cause that’s what I had in the fridge.
- Get some bananas, blend them up.
- Add milk.
- Protein powder time!

Next, I threw in a scoop of vanilla protein powder. I’m trying to be a little healthier, you know? After that, I blended everything until it was nice and smooth. It looked kind of like a thick smoothie, to be honest.

Now comes the waiting game. I poured the mixture into the Creami pint container and popped it into the freezer. The instructions said to freeze it for 24 hours, so I did. Let me tell you, waiting was the hardest part! I was so excited to try this thing out.
The next day, I finally took the pint out of the freezer. I followed the Creami instructions and let it sit out for about 10-15 minutes to soften up a bit. I actually saw a blog once that said you can use store-bought ice cream for milkshakes, but I wanted to try this banana protein thing first. Then, I put the pint into the machine, selected the “ice cream” setting, and pressed start.
The Creami started churning, and it was pretty loud, I’m not gonna lie. But after a few minutes, it stopped, and I opened it up. It was… well, it wasn’t quite ice cream yet. More like a crumbly, icy mess. But then I used the ‘re-spin’ feature, after the second time, it looked much better.
I scooped some out, and it was actually pretty good. It was creamy and sweet, and you could definitely taste the banana. It wasn’t exactly like regular ice cream, but it was a pretty decent healthy alternative. If I’m craving ice cream but don’t want all the sugar and fat, this would do the job.
Overall, I’d say the Ninja Creami is pretty cool. It’s definitely a fun way to make healthier frozen treats. I can’t wait to experiment with other recipes! Maybe next time I’ll try chocolate milk and chocolate protein powder. Or maybe I’ll add some peanut butter. The possibilities are endless!
